ASCIT Program Curriculum
Like an athlete in training, you master the fundamentals first. At IWU, you take online computer courses starting with the basics, then expand and enhance your abilities.
As you work through the online computer courses, you acquire the facts and skills needed for a career in computer information technology in four key areas:
- Core computer information technology principles—know your industry
- Humanities—acquire the intellectual depth to make critical decisions and solve problems comfortably
- Communications—express your ideas and work with coworkers effectively
- Personal growth and spirituality—trust yourself to make the right choices
Our computer courses not only teach vital computer technology skills, they teach you how to apply them. With the refined critical thinking and communications skills gained through higher learning, you can quickly become one of your company's top performers and leaders.
During your online computer courses in the associate's degree program, you will learn how to recognize and define problems, analyze problems, and execute solutions. You will participate in online discussions, workshops, and case studies giving a better understanding of the connections between current technology and business applications.
Take the next step and apply now to start your online computer courses with IWU.
The Curriculum
- Indiana Wesleyan computer courses start with "Introduction to Computer Information Technology," which provides students with an overview of computer information technology, its history, current computer technology, and future trends. Other computer information technology courses include programming, operating systems, desktop applications, database concepts, and other courses.
- IWU does not include only online computer courses, but adds courses emphasizing the importance of communications skills. You'll learn how to do your best work in an organizational setting that may sometimes be culturally different from you.
- Humanities classes are very important in addition to the online computer courses. Through them you'll discover your creative side, learning how to become a better decision maker.
- IWU also emphasizes the importance of personal growth through an ethical, values-based life. IT professionals should be able to inspire trust and loyalty. In addition to your online computer courses, you'll take courses to help develop an appreciation and understanding of a Christian world view, including a servant-leader mentality.
